Golf Symbolizing Freedom 5000 feet high Never felt so low Got the rock star dream Think I’ll be letting it go Everything’s never how it seems But they think they know so well When it’s always in their dreams And I’m not being ungrateful its’ just so hard to tell But when you’ve become the mouse on the treadmill People looking inside really think it’s good And when all of a sudden you’ve lost the will They sit and wonder how you could See it’s no longer about the money It’s no longer about the fame It’s about golf symbolizing freedom And how things can never be the same Note: This is the second I have written about the same thing. I was reading an interview with Ricky Ross (lead singer Deacon Blue) where he was recalling a real low point in his life back in the mid 90s – The life of a pop star and all the crazy media frenzy & constant travel had become too much. On a plane coming back from London to Glasgow a frequent trip he recalled himself sat looking out of the window at 3 guys below playing golf and thought that it was they who were the lucky ones & it was they who had freedom to live their lives. I think at some time in our lives we all envy what other people have. We sit & think how wonderful it must be. But it’s never us living that particular life so we never really know just how it really is. How many times has the press taken a rock star apart or a footballer or actor/actress? We all have this view that that life style would vanquish all problems that life would automatically become so easy and judging by Ricky’s comments in that interview its never really so.
